Architect Sarhat Petrosyan is concerned that the sale of the building of Sport and Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan may jeopardize the architectural view. “The concern is that the tough terms that were set in the previous contract may not be available this time. There was a clear demand in the previous contract that the meaning of the building should be left and should be used for sports and concert purposes. I hope that during this sale these terms would be formulated in similar strictness to avoid occurrence of the story with the indoor market, when the building was treated not as a monument that was designed for a specific purpose, rather than as a square meter. Since the Ministry of Culture is unable to perform its functions well with the private sector, I have serious concerns and have no reason to be optimistic. After the indoor market any monument can be found in the same condition,” said Sarhat Petrosyan. He also mentioned that this time the selling price of the complex is several times more expensive, 19 billion 350 million 100 thousand AMD initial value. “The previous one if I’m not mistaken was eight million dollars, and the state was able to put forward strict requirements, now, when the amount was raised, the possibility of the risk to push the state interests forward will reduce.” Recall that the Sport and Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan has been put up to the auctions since May 19, as conveyed by Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service (JACES), the term expires on May 29.
