Ijevan poet’s ode to Azerbaijani singer

May 22,2014 14:09

Lyubik Chibukhchyan, the Advisor to the Governor of Tavush marz, an Ijevan poet, requested us to hand in his “Elnara” ode-book to the people of Azerbaijan during our upcoming meeting with Azeri in the Georgian village of Tekali to pass it to Azerbaijani singer Elnara Abdulaeva as a message of peace to Azeri from Tavush borderline.

Chibukhchyan had added a sheet in the cover of the book written in Russian, which reads, “Dear Elnara Khanum, these days the best translators are working on translating the ode dedicated to you into Russian and Azeri languages, but they could not even get close to my difficult literature work. And I am compelled to send you the original in hopes that you will find a better translation. I do not know how you will react in surprise, but your photo in a large frame is hanging on the wall in my office, which I will keep at the cost of my life as a unique talisman.” The ode printed in 2013, with 170 pages ends with the following lines, “Two of close planets, equal with top, will call each other by our names, Lyubik-Elnara.”
