We learned from the village mayor of Verin Karmiraghbyur community, Tavush marz, Kamo Chobanyan, that the community resident, 77-year-old Mamikon Khojoyan’s body was moved to Yerevan. The village mayor said that Mamikon Khojoyan’s body dead on May 20 will be examined, and the RA Ministry of Health will formally state the exact cause of death. Recall that Mamikon had appeared on the territory of Azerbaijan on 28 January 2014, and on March 4, in support of the International Committee of the Red Cross, he was returned to Armenia. Kamo Chobanyan said that after returning from captivity in Azerbaijan, Mamikon Khojayan was suffering a lot of pain, he was not recognizing his fellow villagers, and had lost his memory.
Regarding the health of 22-year-old inhabitant of Verin Karmiraghbyur, returned from Azerbaijani captivity, Arsen Khojoyan, the village mayor said that Arsen was recently discharged from the hospital, and his health is normal. How two inhabitants of non- bordering Verin Karmiraghbyur village have crossed the inter-state border, and appeared in the territory of Azerbaijan? The village mayor said that their village is really a bordering village. The Aygepar former workers’ settlement was established on the territories of Verin Karmiraghbyur, Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, and Movses villages. The community leader said that their lands are located 1 km far from the border, and Verin Karmiraghbyur is actually a border community. Chobanyan informed that recently a foreign donor organization is funding a construction project of potable water in bordering communities of Berd region. Verin Karmiraghbyur community also has a potable water problem. But since the village does not have the status of border, has been able to take advantage of this project.
