On May 24, at the public hearing held in the village Tekali, Georgia, the Head of Tavush regional branch of the Writers’ Union of Armenia, Samvel Beglaryan, addressed a question to the speaker, a well-know political scientist of Azerbaijan Zardusht Alizadeh about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Alizadeh, namely, said, “The conflict began with a legal basis. They applied to withdraw from the composition (of Azerbaijan); legally it failed, they immediately passed to illegal way. Who were leading the movement on this and the other side, the partocrats, Henrikh Mkhitaryan from you, and Vezirov, Aliyev and others from us? Then the national figures came who were promising the people a paradise on earth, well, when we occupy Karabakh, and capture from Azerbaijan, such bright days and wonderful times will come.
And that is why the young boys took the self-firing guns, and went killing, killing, and killing. It happened, Karabakh is in the composition of Armenia. No bright future, no prospects. They say that according to official data, Armenia has a population of 2 million people, I think it’s less (according to official data, as of January 1, 2014, the population of Armenia was 3 million 17 thousand 100 people, note made by V.S.). And every year, 50 thousand people are leaving not because they do not love their country. There is no life, no job, no prospects, and people are leaving. If you take that every year 50 thousand people is leaving, 10 years later, it will be half a million. Another 10 years, another half a million. Another 10 years, in 2044, the last Armenian will accept the victory parade from the last Armenian, and they will leave Armenia.” Alizadeh said that the entire scientific and industrial potential is destroyed in Azerbaijan, all factories are closed, and 400 workers appeared in the streets, where they are selling candy and other things. Earlier, Azerbaijan was exporting machinery and equipment to 67 countries, and now it is selling oil and gas like Kuwait and Libya, importing tomatoes and greens from Iran and Turkey, grain from Kazakhstan at high prices, and added, “As long as there is oil and gas, we exist, when the oil and gas are over, it will be the end of the state. There is a certain, high level of living in Azerbaijan. When the oil and gas is over, shall we start eating each other, and seizing from each other?”
