Today, the condition with the UN-recognized borders, i.e. without Nagorno-Karabakh, put forward to the Eurasian Union by the founding member of the Eurasian Union, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, was not a surprise for the “Heritage” party Vice-President Armen Martirosyan. “The World Trade Organization and our membership to different structures did not have similar unique approach. Armenia is either joining or not joining, even the Association Agreement did not say that Armenia should join by its recognized borders. Kazakhstan is protecting the interests of Azerbaijan, and Armenia, humiliating itself is intruded into a structure, in which three member countries protect the interests of Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan is publicly announcing, Russia is multi-billion and is selling advanced weapons, Belarus is publicly announcing, whereas Armenia humiliated wants to intrude in it for the authorities to maintain their power and to try to squeeze the resources of the country to the end, this is the problem.
How can one become a member of such an organization, when you are initially humiliated in the worst way,” said Mr. Martirosyan. Referring to the lack of objection in any form, or interpretation to the condition by the Armenian side, Mr. Martirosyan said, “There is no Armenian side, there are already illegitimate Armenian authorities under the subordination of Russian authorities, who cannot submit objections. Objection is submitted by reps that have a face and decent power, who can protect their interests, and, at the required moment can say ‘no’ or ‘yes’. Armenian authorities have no longer such capabilities.” To the question of whether Armenia may step back from its decision of accessing the Eurasian Union, given the condition put forth today, Armen Martirosyan considered this option not likely. “If our authorities were guided by the state interests, we wouldn’t have appeared in this situation, there is no problem in joining the Union, not to speak about stepping back, I do not think that Armenia’s authorities would demonstrate a similar behavior and abandon the Union, they are totally dependent on the Russian government to be humiliated in the end, and Europe does not accept them.”
