Political scientist about Serzh Sargsyan’s oppressed posture and surprise at Aliyev’s letter

June 02,2014 17:36

The photos of the meeting with presidents of Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus are on the internet, in which Serzh Sargsyan’s posture is oppressed, in the back, with wry face and in surprise. We are talking about the photos taken after the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council panel session. In the conversation with Aravot.am, political scientist Alexander Manasyan urged not to feel pad when the president of the country is small-size and has such a posture. “In the politics, the results are important.” Rumors circulated that Serzh Sargsyan was not even aware that we had entered the WTO by the UN-recognized borders, that Serzh Sargsyan had called the Minister of Economy and verify the information. As estimated by Alexander Manasyan, “If it’s true, it’s not a good sign. But I do not know whether it could be a subject for rumors. I do not think that the president was not informed.” To our question of whether Armenia’s role in the Eurasian Union is not humiliated, he replied, “I’m sure, not. There is no problem of hurting Armenia. We need to enter in a dignified manner, and not defeated.” To the clarification of whether now Serzh Sargsyan is entering in a dignified manner, the political scientist mentioned in response that Nazarbayev has not formulated his speech in an offensive form. He in a very dignified form has read Aliyev’s letter. “When sitting around the table, everything can be said. Open text talks are held there.”

To our question of whether elementary etiquette was not required to keep Serzh Sargsyan at least inform about Aliyev’s letter in advance, Mr. Minasyan responded, “They have read Aliyev’s letter, now we do not know when they had received this letter. Maybe they had sent it in a way that it was just received, or had done it on purpose to show that you know we had just received the letter, and we cannot make you become a founding member of the Eurasian Union. These are complex games, and our expectations are naive.”
