Armenia and Azerbaijan totally depend on Russia

We asked the famous Azeri political scientist Zardusht Alizadeh how the large-scale war between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible. He said, “If it is associate with the role and willingness of Armenia and Azerbaijan, I am not talking about Karabakh, the possibility of war resumption is 1-2 percent. If it is associated with Russia’s geopolitical plans, I think that the possibility of war is 20 percent. In my understanding, Russia is not interested in deterioration of the situation in the South Caucasus; they deny the problems with Ukraine, other regions, NATO, and the Europe. And here, a perfect situation is created, a perfectly working mechanism. Armenia and Azerbaijan constitute a Nagorno-Karabakh circle, which is tied to Russia with a strong rope. It is not possible to move, it was proved by September 3, the visit on August prior to Azerbaijan’s presidential elections. Because of Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan and Armenia totally depend on Russia. There is a Russian proverb, “Why look for a good thing when you have one?” They do not intend to change the situation. But in the event of 20 percent, war may be initiated because of being far from the Eurasian Union, the Customs Union. I think that staying away from it is also senseless, because by and large Armenia and Azerbaijan do not have economy. We sell oil and gas, our buyers are in the West, we do not have other products. During the years of independence, we had wrecked our industry, science, and technologies.
