Azat Arshakyan. “Desecrators of memory should be punished.”

June 17,2014 18:16

To the question of Aravot about how faithful the independence torch-bearer Ashot Navasardyan’s established Republican party is to the ideas, the basic principles that had been put in the ground of this political party by Ashot Navasardyan and Andranik Margaryan, the MP of the RA Supreme Council, and the fighter for the independence, Azat Arshakyan, responded, “These people have passed away, they’re gone. They were responsible for their own time, and I find it difficult to say whether today’s Republican Party is Ashot’s successor. I would suggest having a Committee of Honor in RPA, which will be responsible for code of honor (кодекс чести). A Council consisting of prominent member of the Republican political party that in the event of violation of actions and statements made against the ideology adopted by the founder of RPA party would not wait for the opponents would raise their voices, and would invite them to the council, scold them, and punish for discrediting their political party programs, and desecrating the memory. There should be a self-cleaning system in the Republican Party to be able to be adhering to the value systems formulated by their founders. If such a code is not introduced, like it was during the times of union of officers, when respected officers had a council and could express their opinions, which was sufficient for someone who had committed a behavior indecent for the officer to go and commit suicide. If such a board or committee is not formed, then the Republican Party will slowly be destroyed under so many years of discrediting, because people discrediting the reputation and respect of this political have become too many.”
