Citizens’ fight produces and will produce its results
Due to public protests with regard to feasting near Zvartnots area and Garni temple, relevant public officials are dismissed or received a reprimand, the Prime Minister, in his words, had a serious conversation with the Minister of Culture, and the Ministry banned on such activities in the area of historical and cultural monuments.
Is it more or less? Of course, it is less. We need to regulate the activities carried out in these areas by the law. The legislative actions in this sphere is proceeding too slowly. Probably, the inertia coming from the Soviet era plays its role, and the cultural matters continue to rank the 10th place. In particular, the law on museums is in the status of “pickled” for some years.
But to say that the public protest was of no avail, of course, would be wrong. If not the protest, tomorrow, our oligarchs would organize such “feasts” in these sites that the “parties” and “corporative” would seem too restrained. If not the protest by the opposition and “I am against”, now 5 percent of the wages would be freely deducted from all young people. Of course, the current solutions issued by the government and the National Assembly about “funded” pensions are not enough. But, the situation in this spear is significantly better than at the beginning of the year.

In any case, I am sure that the protest by “I am against” initiative must be continued. Otherwise, it will turn out that the young people of the IT sector were only fighting for themselves, and when they (allegedly, for three years) were left alone, they were rested. The young people working for public institutions are exactly the same citizens of Armenia like the rest, and they are working for the state rather than for the authorities.
The same about the Afrikyan’s building. When in 2001-2005, several dozen “Afrikyan buildings” were demolished, there were particularly no protest actions. First, the regime was more solid, then the social networks were not developed. And most importantly, those who today are 20-25 years old, in other words, the peers of our third Republic, were 10-15 years old at that time and were unable to actively participate in the political struggle. And now, everything depends on them, should they be consistent, Afrikyan’s house will stay in its place, should they get tired, disappointed, they will destroy it and scatter away the stones.
To rely on politicians, makes no sense. They, depending on whether they are government or opposition, are sometimes taking a bludgeon and hit on people’s heads, and sometimes are becoming such Democrats that the academician Sakharov would envy them. For coming to power, a priest, for after coming to power, a devil. This is the logic of the political struggle. Not only in Armenia.
The fight of citizens with no political ambitions is different. The Human rights defender Avetik Ishkhanyan, recently, noticed rightly that we need to get rid of the destiny worshiping mood, it’s all the same, the authorities will do what they want. It’s a motto of a growling, constantly protesting, and sick society. This is also a false thesis. It has never been so, especially now.
