“I’ll answer your question as the RA Foreign Minister had once said, that the CSTO should not respond to any border incident,” so responded the Coordinator of the Analytical Association of CSTO, Doctor of Political Sciences, Igor Panarin, to the question of Aravot.am about what steps the CSTO is initiating for providing the security of its member country Armenia, given the fact that, recently, a number of soldiers have been killed from the border shootings. He noted that no one from Armenia has officially requested CSTO about it, and they are based on official information, hence, in the absence of an official request, CSTO thinks that it is a matter to be solved under bilateral relations.
On June 30, by the initiative of the CSTO Armenian Representation and the International Center for Human Development, under the “Young Diplomacy 2014” scientific-practical school, Igor Panarin delivered a lecture at the CSTO Armenian Representation Office for the young diplomats, which was entitled “CSTO and Eurasian security”. In the beginning of his speech, he mentioned, “An important event took place on June 27. Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia signed the EU Association Agreement. This fact changes the situation in the Eurasian area”. Igor Panarin also pointed out that after this historical event, the CSTO’s role will grow.
