“GOST” of marasmus

July 09,2014 13:31

In a small country like ours, marasmic displays, of course, are disappointing. For instances, when 4.5 million drams from the budget is allocated to combat mosquitoes in Jermuk.

Or, for failure to pay a fine of 10,000 drams, the bank freezes the citizen’s account of several million. These are disappointing only to our, Armenian citizens, because, being a small country, we have no pretension and ability to extend our marasmus over the neighbors, the region or the whole world. It is much more dangerous when the superstates show signs of marasmus because marasmus becomes not one separately taken phenomenon existing in the country, but coercion, as said in Soviet language, a “GOST”, a state standard.

Since the moment when Russia “stood up on its own feet and found its unique and inimitable” way, “GOSTs” began to be in compliance to that, on the other hand, the Eurasian, and on the other hand, the “council”, in other words, collective ideology. One of the most vivid manifestations of “conciliarism” is the banning of the women’s lace underwear. Really, under the spiritual supremacy, what women and what underwear are we talking about? It is planned also to ban wearing high-heel women shoes, which also apparently suggests about Russia’s unique, “heelless” path.

Even under this uncompromising struggle against the corrosive influence of the West, I highly doubt that women in Russia will refuse wearing the banned underwear or shoes, simply they will buy them from merchant “speculators” of the same “non-spiritual West”, as it was done in the old and good times.

However, it is, after all, Russia’s domestic affair. It is not clear why this “GOST” is imposed to us. Anyway, this is still not the culmination of marasmus. One of the Duma deputies has suggested changing the design of the 100-rubles banknote, as the latter spoils the teenagers. The point is that Apollo’s “intimate parts” are depicted on the banknote. This sculpture, as we know, is on the roof of the Bolshoi Theater. If the “Customs GOSTs” also function in Armenia, then all the movies by “Hayfilm” should be banned, because the symbol of the Armenian Film Studio is the statue of David of Sasun, where the testicles of the horse are seen.

Recently, sounding sexual type of swearing in the cinemas, literature and the media in Russia is also banned. Thus, Putin’s favorite “Batyanya Kombat” song on air will also be banned (it contains a “Yo Kombat” phrase). Henceforth, “swearing dirtily” is allowed to speak only by the Russian diplomats accredited in Africa.
