Nikol Pashinyan when talking about the “offshore” recalled Serzh Sargsyan

July 19,2014 17:46

“What is the meaning of delivering surprises? Do they deliver a surprise of nine million dollars?” so responded the RA NA ANC faction MP Nikol Pashinyan to the statement made by Yurik Khachatryan, lawyer of businessman Ashot Sukiasyan who was detained by offshore affairs. Recall that Yurik Khachatryan had announced that “Shot Sukiasyan wanted to give a gift to the former Prime Minister, now the Ambassador of Armenia to the U.S., Tigran Sargsyan, and Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, by opening an offshore company by their names.”

According to Nikol Pashinyan, it would be a surprise if Ashot Sukiasyan had given a beautiful pen to the Prime Minister as a gift, or had come and said that he had brought a businessman contributing 50 million dollars to Armenia, who would provide a new factory. Continuing, Nikol Pashinyan said, “But dividing personal nine million dollars into three parts and make a surprise of three million dollars, can such a thing happen?” Nikol Pashinyan considers the fact of giving a gift to Navasard Kchoyan and Tigran Sargsyan by Shot Sukiasyan a display of corruption and recalls Serzh Sargsyan’s words, “Do you remember Serzh Sargsyan saying about buffalo meat, I do not understand how the customer borrows from the supplier. It is always the way to go. One borrows and the other gives a gift, and the third delivers a surprise. This is called corruption. Who says that now I am going to give you a bribe, or now I will give you a kickback. The names are not mentioned.” To our question of whether he sees a tendency in the offshore case of trying to lay the blame on Ashot Sukiasyan and justify Navasard Kchoyan and Tigran Sargsyan, Nikol Pashinyan tried to avoid giving estimated about the case and passed to the interpretation of the process of the case. “So far, the case proceeded through concealing, and there is no doubt that it will be so until the end. We would have a situation when the result would be contrary to public belief. We deal with a classic example of corruption. The RA authorities always say whether you have evidence of corruption. This is from the cases that there are not only evidences, but they are substantiated and the documents are published. Now what does this government say? It says, no, this is not the fact that we should have, this was a surprise. The bad news is that this kind of corruption cases no longer are a surprise to the RA citizens.”
