French University Rector in Armenia, Jean-Jacques Montois, in these days, is still in Armenia, because he wanted to participate in the “Golden Apricot” film festival, especially when it is Parajanov this year. Last year, under the same festival, he had watched Serzh Avetikyan’s “Parajanov” movie and was very impressed. “I watched the “Parajanov” film with English subtitles. I did not know about this film director. Believe me, I was very excited about this film. I loved Parajanov’s excited image very much. This person was able to awaken the slumbering dreams of each individual … Some people may pass by Renoir’s paintings, listening to Mozart, watch “Parajanov” film without feeling anything. This is a matter of sensitivity. But isn’t sensitivity the most important feature of human character? Revealing the feeling, the message and the person lies in the professionalism of the scriptwriter… With all of that, Parajanov is a wonderful scriptwriter. A real wizard, who was creating human values, make them appear in a place where no one would expect. A type of miner who could finds and reveal the natural pieces and precious stones of the feeling … Parajanov’s facetious and joking, strange, non-traditional feature enables him to reach such a flexibility of the spirit, which crosses the boundaries of genius. He, who does a little bit of craziness, can never cut the chains giving him freedom, which make him free … Parajanov, certainly, had this craziness, which was also giving him freedom of mind. For creating, the creator’s should should be in infinity, which is incompatible with the totalitarian context. It’s hard to imagine that I did not know anything about the eastern part of the globe, especially Armenia. But it seems to me that in 21 months, I have filled this gap. Thanks to Parajanov, I loved the Armenian people and its history. Eventually, this was what I felt watching this film. Parajanov’s role-player was wonderful. It was a very good film,” wrote the Rector.
