Will the West be consolidated against Russia?

July 24,2014 15:05

“Everything depends on whether we would have consolidation of the West in a short period of time,” said the Deputy Director for the “Caucasus Institute”, Sergey Minasyan, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the world situation after the Malaysia Bowing crash.

If the Russian side manages somehow to discharge the emotional approach, according to the political scientist, it could lead to some tightening of stance towards Russia, but without any special steps. “But if in a very short time, we witness to new moves, then, on the contrary, it may lead to further support to Ukraine by the West. Up to supply of a large amount of military equipment and weapons,” said the political scientist, adding that it should also be followed by imposing new economic sanctions to RF. As estimated by the political scientist, if the West within a short period of time, let’s say, within a week, does not go for steep steps, then tightening of economic sanctions to Russia would not lead to the result which the West or Ukraine expect at this moment.
