The “Golden Apricot” Yerevan International Film Festival, among other renowned film directors, this year, invited the world famous South Korean film director Kim Ki-duk to Armenia. In the conversation with Aravot.am, the “Golden Apricot” film festival Program Coordinator, also film critic, Raffi Movsisyan, informed that they had negotiated with the film director for three years. “Every year, Kim Ki-duk was promising to come to Armenia, and finally it became a reality this year, at the 11th “Golden Apricot”. Raffi Movsisyan said that at first they had fear that there could arise some complications with regard to acceptance of such a reputation and talented film director because, often, the world famous people are cranky, but Kim Ki-du proved with his behavior that he is a simple and honest man, and ready to communicate with all. According to the “Golden Apricot” Project Coordinator, the South Korean film director lovingly talked and photographed with all fans of his arts, and the journalists. Moreover, they have calculated that more than 300 selfies with Kim Ki-duk in Yerevan are posted on the Facebook and other platforms. Raffi Movsisyan added that admired with Armenia Kim Ki-duk’s singing in Armenia was not by chance. The South Korean “Arirang” national song, which sounds also in the director’s film with the same name, as a sign of his respect and gratitude to Armenian people, the film director made a surprise when receiving Parajanov thaler and meeting with the journalists.
