The world and Putin, Putin and Armenia

July 26,2014 17:38

Armenia is seeking a day before to join an institution, whose initiating country is isolated from the civilized world

The West consider the fighter acting in the east of Ukraine a threat not only for Ukraine, but also for the international community. U.S. President Barack Obama, recently, has announced that if Russia does not change its attitude towards Ukraine, if it violates Ukraine’s sovereignty and supports the separatists, then it will only continue the path of further isolation. “In that case, Russia will be forced to pay more and a greater price for its stance. Currently, the time has come for the President Putin and entire Russia to refuse the current strategy and being engaged in regulating Ukraine’s conflict.” British Prime Minister David Cameron added that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, faces a choice, and if he radically does not change its approach to Ukraine, then the West should radically change its approach to Russia. On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the decree of the President on “Partial mobilization”.

Adopting a decision on partial mobilization is due to the spread of terrorism manifestations on the territory of Ukraine, which lead to the death of civilians, servicemen and personnel of paramilitary formations and law enforcement agencies. Malaysian aircraft destruction, seems, to make the visions about real Russia more pronounced. Headlines about Putin’s leadership threats are published in the world-leading newspapers. The Internet is flooded by the accusations addressed to Russian Federation about the plane crash. The Ukrainian Security Service has released wiretapping conversations between the terrorists and their Russian sponsors, which proves that Russians have some connection with the incident. No one doubts that Russia is leading the Ukrainian separatists. Lately, U.S. President Barack Obama has said that the Malaysian plane was hit from the territory, which is under the control of the Ukrainian militiamen, and U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden added that the U.S. side has irrefutable evidences that the missile fired in the direction of Malaysian plane was made by the territory under the control of the separatists. Malaysian plane crash had significant consequences for Russia.

EU leaders stepped up the sanctions against Russia. The Russian companies, which in some way have supported the Kremlin in Ukrainian war, are included in the “black list”, which will be published in late July. EU leaders consider possible that the sanctions be imposed also to the individuals who provided active financial support. The investment and Reconstruction and Development European banks will close down the new projects in Russia, also the 450 million euro loan from the European Commission will be protracted, which was planned to give to Russia. The steps by the United States were more drastic. The United States froze the assets of the Kremlin senior adviser, Igor Shchegolev, and the Head of Operative Information and International Relations Department of Russian Federal Security Service, Sergei Beseda. Washington closed the access of some of the energy companies and banks to the American financial markets. Russia’s major oil companies, “Rosneft”, the second largest gas company, “Novatek”, as well as “Gazprombank” and “Vnesheconombank”, which was the Sochi Olympics sponsor, have appeared in USA’s “black list”. American companies will not enter into business with “Basalt”, “Kret”, “Sozvezdie”, “Mashinostroyeniya”, “Almaz-Antey”, KBP, YUVZ and “Kalashnikov” companies. “Rosneft” is a budget ensuring company in Russia, and a few days ago, when Armenia’s Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan, left for Moscow, he had discussed the integration processes with Medvedev, as well as the cooperation with Armenia on trade, economic and humanitarian industries, including the “Rosneft” company’s investment program.

Where does Putin lead Russia? What is expected to Russia? Indeed, it is hard to predict. The most convenient words to describe today’s Russia’s future are as follows: unpredictability and uncertainty. On July 22, the Commission on Russian government bills approved the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. Armenia seeks a day before to join an institution, whose initiating country, because of the fault of Putin’s government, is isolated from the civilized world. Of course, some Western countries will express against intensification of sanctions against Russia, but it is also a fact that such unfriendly attitude to Russia by the international community has not been recorded in recent decades. And Putin, seems, is not willing to stop. He is moving forward, his vision is the imperialistic Russia, and Armenia follows him.

But where to?
