The journalist for “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun” newspaper, Ani Gevorgyan, is going to apply to court to appeal the SIS’s decision to dismiss the criminal case against the police for obstructing her journalistic work and committing violence against her.
Recall that Ani Gevorgyan was detained on February 12 during the “March 1” rally awareness action held by the ANC activists.
After the incident, “ChI” journalist submitted a report to the SIS that her journalistic work is hampered and violence was committed against her not only in Mashtots Avenue, but in the police department by the Head of the Department, Artak Poghosyan. “SIS investigator has believed the police about this incident, and the dismissed decision reads that Artak Poghosyan has not hit me, moreover, on that day, he has not even entered the room where I was in at the time of detention,” said the journalist to Aravot.am.
Pursuant to Ani Gevorgyan, “The decision on dismissal is inadequate. Even there was no attempt made to illustrate excuses and explanations close to the reality. Lie and obvious false information were represented in the dismissed decision, funny and reminding of a kindergarten. For example, it read that I was detained not as a journalist, but as a citizen violating the public order, who tried to block the Mashtots Avenue traffic, allegedly the police officers for my security reasons have caught up by my hands and shook. But we are talking about the episode, the video of which was published and clearly shows that the police are trying to take away my camera. The police explained this episode in such a funny way, and the SIS investigator has accepted these explanations. And such explanations reminding of a circus are accepted as grounds to dismiss the case.”

As told by “ChI” journalist, the SIS decision to dismiss the case is so carelessly composed that even her place of employment and other data are wrongly stated. “Which once again proves that the SIS was not interested in examining the case, they did what they were told.” Recall also that Ani Gevorgyan had appealed the SIS decision on dismissal of the case at the supervising prosecutor, but it was also rejected.
