As known, in recent days, from July 28 to August 2, the number of soldiers of Azerbaijani army deceased in various parts of the Contact Line, according to Baku data, is 13, and according to Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army data, the number of loses was at least 26. The number of loses of Artsakh Defense Army were 5 killed, and 7 wounded. Obviously, the advantage in the military operations belongs to the Armenian side.
Aravot.am asked the researcher in the field of propaganda, Karen Vrtanesyan, whether Armenian have an advantage in the information field, too, Mr. Vrtanesyan replied, “It is impossible to calculate by quantitative standards and very difficult to evaluate the results and impact. But I can say that this time, I do not know whether due to summer or our media perhaps was more careful to work, compared to the previous cases, the coverage was more normal and panic and unverified rumors were less. Of course, there were also cases, for example, some media had taken our Defense Ministry’s statement from Azeri sources, who had distorted the statement.”
To our observation that the public is already speaking out about the resumption of the war, Mr. Vrtanesyan responded as follows, “War has never ended, just a cease-fire agreement was signed, which is violated almost every day. To talk that war has started is wrong. We can talk about the possible large-scale operations. It should also be understood that having such a neighbor, the resumption of war is always possible, and it does not matter whether there is a peace agreement or not. Azerbaijan may at any time present some pretensions, if it feels that it has something to achieve. So, we should not be surprised and fall into panic. This is our reality, and the situation can be aggravated at any time. It was so half-year, and five years ago. Two years ago, in early June, the situation was the same in full. The only difference was that this time the Azerbaijani side simultaneously had quite number of loses. Earlier, they were trying hard to hide it. Of course, it seems to me that this time there were some things hidden, too.”
We inquired whether the rumors spread out among the public that mobilization is carried out among young people are in line with the reality, Karen Vrtanesyan answered, “I have not heard about it, but exercising mobilizations is always normal. It is one of the ways to keep the mobilization reserve trained, and this is normal. It always happened during the peace and tense situation. At this point, I do not see anything weird here, since the situation is tense, naturally, some measures have been taken on both sides. Azerbaijan reports that aircrafts have taken the flight. They always do it when the situation is aggravated, it’s full normal phenomenon, though they are trying to present that they are taking some measures. It’s always done by the two sides under this situation.”
