From August 1-3, a peace speeches contest was held in Tekali, a Georgian village in Marneuli region. On August 2, twenty-four boys and girls from Armenia and Azerbaijan participated in the peace speeches contest in the pavilion placed on the land donated by Tekali resident Mushvig Namazov, which is located near the South Caucasus 3 republics’ borderline.
In their speeches, the Contest participants were calling for peace in the South Caucasus, and in this regard, they were also referring to respectable international organizations. In some speeches, Russia was declared as a threat to peace in the South Caucasus.

The attendees elected 3 Contest winners by voting: 2 Armenians and 1 Azerbaijanis. The prizes awarded to them were burning lamps attached to the headband, which was symbolizing the struggle of light against darkness. The Azerbaijani haqqin.az website criticized the Azerbaijani participants in the Contest that they were singing songs with their Armenian peers during the clashes on the border with victims.
