Today, U.S. Ambassador John Heffern, Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin, and French Chargé d’Affaires Isabelle Guisnel called on Vigen A. Sargsyan, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
The ambassadors expressed condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives during recent events along the line of contact of Nagorno Karabakh and the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the Chief of Staff provided an update on the current situation.
The Ambassadors from the Minsk Group Co-Chair countries urged restraint and de-escalation of tensions from all sides, called for strict respect of the ceasefire agreement, and expressed their hope the upcoming meetings in Sochi will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
