“Russia hopes even to get apples from Azerbaijan.”

August 13,2014 17:10

After banning the access of a number of European goods to the Russian market, some business communities in our country, some experts of the industry expressed opinion with enthusiasm that it will open a way of a number of Armenian products to the Russian market. But, the Chairman of “Informed and Protected Consumer” NGO, Babken Pipoyan, believes that Russia does not particularly cherish a hope with Armenia, nor relies on Armenian products. “Russia hopes even to get apples from Azerbaijan, but it does not expect nothing of Armenia, which is certainly sad.”

To the question of whether it is the flaw by the government officials that at this suitable moment, the products of our country do not even become a subject for discussion, Mr. Pipoyan said that he cannot say but only can state that when discussing the issue of Russia’s food security, Armenia’s name is not mentioned in Russian media analyses.

To our question that after failing to sign the EU Association Agreement, whether it is possible that our producers produce their products by not so high standards, Mr. Pipoyan said, “It is not that Russian standards are bad, unfortunately we are in the situation that no matter what standards we decide to take for production, we would benefit.”
