Paris – On Saturday, August 16, about 1,200 people represented by several Kurdish organizations, human rights, movement against racism, Communist Party, yadizi community and the Coordinating Council of Armenian organizations of France (CCAF), etc, have expressed support to the cause of Yazidi people killed in Iraq by jihadists of the Islamic State.
Co-Chair of the CCAF, Ara Toranian, gave a rousing speech on the Place du Chatelet, in which he expressed the “sense of horror and indignation of the Armenian community in front of mass crimes.” He praised the “resistance of the Kurdish people.” Adding “Is it acceptable 100 years after the Armenian genocide we should see this sad spectacle of refugees fleeing their own land to escape the destructive effects of a violent ideology and unenlightened.” To conclude his remarks, Ara Toranian launched “Yes we support you in your struggle because you are yourselves in danger, but also because we continue to defend a vision of the interests of the region to which we are very attached. “
