I do not know how for whom, but for me, the most powerful source of energy (let it not sound pompous) is the soil of Armenia, and when there is an opportunity to come out of Yerevan asphalt and narrow offices and to contact with the soil, to walk on this soil, I do not miss the opportunity. The soil and its people are living with other problems and other rhythm, and when you returned to town, your sight catches the difference between these rhythms and the problems, particularly the gap between the “Internet” and the real life.
“Here,” there are some “falcons” and some people, who are saying swearwords to these “falcons”. A group of some people wants to “throw from the couch” the other group of people, and the latter wants to sit on this couch forever. “There,” to milk the cow in time, watch that the animals do not get sick, take them to graze in time, bring them back in time, do so that they do not get lost in the evening, gather as much grass as possible, load it on “carriages” and trucks, and bring it to the village, possibly without “losses” (the grass inevitably falls out on the pothole road).
The people, whom I have seen in recent days, do not complain and do not growl, do not expect that the state will open a “factory” for them to go to work, do not expect any support or “charity” from anyone. These people are proud, wise, void of petty jealousy and self-destroying evil. Naturally, such people are available in all regions of Armenia, including Yerevan. Of course, the society needs also rebellious people, “fighting types,” chanters, blasphemers, and so on. The matter is about another phenomenon, about the people who constitute the spine of the country.
I am confident that the foundation of the United States is constituted not by Hollywood stars, nor even by the millionaire “repères” or the baseball-players. The foundation of this country are the farmers living in strict and Puritan morals, who had inherited from their ancestors the skills of soil cultivation, and who in the evening, after the work, come home, take out the beer from the refrigerator and watch the aforementioned “repères” and baseball-players over TV. The foundation of Germany are the “burgers”, the conscientious, punctual, and hard-working people who live in small towns, beyond the megalopolis.
