Aravot.am asked the expert of the “Center for Political and International Studies”, Ruben Mehrabyan, about what to expect from the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Armenia, which is scheduled for September 8-9. “I still believe that we have nothing to expect from Russia, even if we have, then only negative, only pressure, only steps, which have, are and will prevent the development of Armenia, will lead Armenia to isolation, to one-sided dependence on Russia, conservation of regional integration, and formation of dividing lines. So, I do not think that this visit would be something other than beyond the mentioned scopes. Because Russia’s policy is not only unchanged, but gradually goes deeper and gets pathological features.”
As said by Mr. Mehrabyan, probably, the Russian prime minister’s visit will be followed by a few declarative statements, which will be aimed at changing something. “In fact, Armenia’s this situation is beneficial for Russia and also Armenia’s oligarchy… It remains to think about what to do at least not to suffer from the Russian politics, and somehow mitigate the available damages so that they would not bear irreversible character and not be fatal to the Republic of Armenia and the society.”
