There are no “colored” in Armenia

August 28,2014 12:55

Recently, the once famous “Komsomolskaya Pravda” newspaper had published an article about Armenia. Frankly speaking, I do not believe that the author of this article is a journalist, judging by the publication’s bureaucratic-“official” style. It is more like a statement by the Russian Embassy to Armenia, but I know also that there are knowledgeable and competent people there, whereas in this article, there are many numerous factual and spelling errors. A person familiar with the realities of Armenia or visiting our country, an average level journalists working here more or less diligently for a few days (and there are hundreds of high-quality journalism in Russia ) would not allow such mistakes.

There is also a reference in the article to the Armenian media, moreover, quite wrong information is also reported about the orientation thereof. Putting aside, to put it mildly, the inaccuracies, I would like to turn to “Aravot” newspaper (in the publication it is named “Aravod”), about which “TASS is authorized to declare”, as well.

We, according to this statement, belong to the media that by the order of the U.S. Embassy, contribute to the “color revolution”. I would not like to answer to this obvious slander instead of my colleagues, the media mentioned by “KP”, but with respect to “Aravot”, I must say that personally I, the chief responsible of the newspaper, am against any revolution, be it “colored” or “black and white”, because during the revolution, all parties, in legal and moral senses, go beyond permissible limits, and then it requires years, sometimes decades, for the life to go back to its normal sources. “Maidan Revolution” is its latest proof.

Indeed, there are revolutionary political forces in Armenia, and, accordingly, the media. They claim that a fiery autumn is going to happen, that the regime with this regard is in panic, that they bring the revolutionary masses out to the streets, the government will be afraid of it and will resign, after which the “good guys” (in the face of them) would come to power and will begin taking care about the people. But this is at least 22 years of our political practice, there is no new nuance here. And in this context, it should also be clear to everyone that it has nothing to do with the “colored”, an anticolonial, and pro-Western revolution. Current revolutionaries just like the government officials are in Putin’s pocket, and are fighting for the right just to be his vicar.

When I say that I am not excited by the revolutionaries, then I should also add that I have the same attitude to “anti-revolutionaries”, they are absolutely the same from my viewpoint. As one of my favorite writers, Sergei Dovlatov, wrote, “after the Communists, I mostly hate the anti-Communists.”
