“Such developments are quite positive. This is our, Artsakh’s, Armenia’s and Diaspora’s next victory, which proves of irreversibility of the process of recognizing the Republic of Artsakh internationally”, said NKR president press secretary, Davit Babayan, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the fact of recognizing the NKR independence by the EU regional parliament. Recently, the U.S. California state recognized the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, some time later, on 12 September, the EU regional parliament for the first time in the history adopted a document, which supports the implementation of the right of Nagorno-Karabakh to self-determination. Gipuzkoa province, the Basque Country, recognized the NKR independence a day before. Although none of the geopolitical players does not go for such revolutionary step, but in this geopolitical situation, it seems quite favorable conditions are created for the second Armenian state.
In response to the question of Aravot.am of what concerns, fears or excitement should be displayed in this situation, the NKR press secretary said, “These concerns have nothing to do with the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh. Our main task is the preservation of independence and security in our country, to which first of all Azerbaijan and its supporter Turkey intimidates, which does not recognize the 1915 genocide and continues to blockade Armenia and support Azerbaijan.” Davit Babayan thinks that without the recognition of NKR, those two states will continue their de-constructive policies. And the recognition of Artsakh internationally, according to our interlocutor, is one of the best moves of resisting the de-constructive policy of Turkish states. “Artsakh recognition shows that we are viewed as a normal and civilized country, which in its turn is a large blow to total and fascist Azerbaijan and the policies led thereby,” concluded Davit Babayan.
