Because of “Air France” Airlines pilots’ strike, in these days, a number of flights were canceled. The passengers holding the tickets in their hands do not whether they would fly or not. Today, Gyumri residents alarmed Aravot.am complaining that they had gone to the airport to meet their relatives and have found out that for unknown reasons the plane is not going to arrive. According to them, many Gyumri residents use the services of this airline as almost every second family in Gyumri has relatives abroad.
In response to the question of Aravot.am, “Air France” airline’s Armenian office informed that today’s flight to Paris will take place, but they are unaware about the fate of tomorrow’s flights. To get information about whether the flight will take place or not, the passengers should contact the airline office on the given day. We got the same answer also from the “Armenia International Airports” inquiry office. Note that according to information published in the press, the main complaint of the pilots of “Air France” airline is related to the “Perform 2020” program adopted this summer, which provides shifting of a large group of pilots to regional subsidiary companies. In addition, the pilots also complain of the changes in wages, having fears that it would become less if they move to other locations.
Pursuant to some estimates, each day of the strike will cost the company 10-15 million euros because more than 50 percent of the company’s pilots are on strike. The passengers also suffer losses from the “Air France” pilots’ strike, who, as said by alarmed Gyumri residents to Aravot.am, “have a thousand and one things and arrangements to do.”
