“It is humane when you are very upset, but it is not euphonic”, so responded NSDU leader Paruyr Hayrikyan, in response to the question of Aravot.am whether the expression starting with “f” voiced by ANC MP Aram Manukyan while addressing to the public during yesterday’s rally organized in Abovyan appropriate. He also emphasized that he would try not to allow such expressions, and it is good for the rules of propriety be respected. Paruyr Hayrikyan, to put it mildly, is not impressed by the rally. He was particularly upset by the fact that there were no European Union flags. With this regard, he said, “There was no EU flag in Abovyan, so they are KGB agents. Armenia has only one way: be with civilized world. It’s another matter, when the 11th Army was choking and the defense minister was betraying you and enslaving the officers.”
Paruyr Hayrikyan got the impression from the rally in Abovyan that there is no yet a common practice. We inquired to know whether he is going to attend the October 10 rally initiated by the trio, Paruyr Hayrikyan replied, “If I feel that there are questions that are important for our people, then not only I, but our team will also join. But if the free citizen of Armenia goes for a demonstration without the European flag, it is equal to the fact that in 80s people were chanting Lenin, party, and Gorbachev, when we were raising the tri-color flag. Those who are calling them independents and are for isolation of Armenia, today, they are no less dangerous than any force acting openly against Armenia.”
We inquired to know whether it is not disturbing that according to yesterday’s published Appendixes to the agreement of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, a customs checkpoint will be installed on the border with Armenia and NKR, Mr. Hayrikyan replied, “Even if they install ten Customs checkpoints, it is impossible to split Armenia and Karabakh from each other. But, they manage to divert the attention of the whole society to that direction. This EaEU, the Customs Union are hooligan actions imposed on us, they are not advantageous economically, politically, and from security prospective. But, most importantly is the removal of Armenia from the values of civilization. The whole phenomenon is dangerous, and in this great danger, the presence or absence of the Customs checkpoint is secondary.”
