The Ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia, Ivan Kukhta’s wife, Elena Kukhta, admits that she has learned from Armenians to love much and be silent much

During Brazilian music concert entitled “Journey Through Brazilian Music” held recently, not only H.E. Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Armenia, acted as a singer, but also the Ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia, Ivan Kukhta’s wife, Elena Kukhta delivered a surprise. The latter performed “Ipanema” popular song. She did it so professional that the audience burst into applauses.

“Aravot” interviewed with Mrs. Kukhta and inquired whether the ambassador’s wife has a musical education.

“I will open a little secret for you, I am honored artist of Ukraine, a professional singer, and graduated from the Kiev Academy of Art and Culture. I have started to perform less, because due to my husband’s work we have to move from place to place. I try to fill the gap by presenting something in the framework of national event of any country,” replied Mrs. Kukhta.

And to the question of whether she likes Armenia, “I like Armenia very much, and I like also the climate, and human warmth. By the way, I also sing in Armenian, “Erebuni”, “My Yerevan” composed by Orbelyan, I gladly sing your songs. I always felt that I can sing in Armenian, and I am glad that I was successful,” says our interlocutor.

We asked whether it is possible for her to have a solo concert in Armenia or perform with any ensemble. “I would like to, I have already acted with “Cadence” ensemble, they are wonderful musicians. I think we would work on a project with them,” said the Ambassador’s wife.

“I miss Ukraine very much, and I realize that living with the diplomat is the same as living with a military man. I am married for twenty years, I traveled with him to countries where he is going. In this case, you do not give much importance to your profession, and you’re completely devoted to your husband, just as it is accepted with you, in Armenia. I like your traditions very much, thanks to Armenians I have realized that I have to devote much time and attention to my husband, love much and be silent much,” adds our interlocutor.

And is it hard to be a diplomat’s wife? “I think being a wife in general is hard, no matter she is a diplomat, an engineer, a builder, or a prime minister. Being a wife is also a profession, moreover, a complicated profession,” Mrs. Kukhta is sure. In the conversation with “Aravot”, she told that she had travelled with her husband throughout Armenia, she says that she had not missed a village and a town and has seen everything. “We have stuck to your antiquity and national traditions.

I think if you want to know what given people are, you need to know their traditions, sing their songs, dance their dances, and enjoy the national cuisine. I wish your people good life and a good future. Let the success consistently accompany the Armenian nation. I like everything Armenian, including the cuisine, in particular, the crab kebab. Armenians and Ukrainians have commonalities, such as kindness and open-heartedness. You are Christians and have common values, aren’t you? I feel so good in Armenia, like I am at home.”
