“If Levon Ter-Petrosyan considers it necessary to refer to two or three dozen people’s activities during their presented multi-thousand rally, it means that we, including me, are able to smear and dictate this issue in the political agenda”, such opinion was expressed by the Head of HCA Vanadzor office, Artur Sakunts, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to some of the observations voiced in the speech of the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan during the joint rally of ANC, PAP and “Heritage” in the Liberty Square. He was one of the persons who were actively fighting against the Eurasian Economic Union Membership (EaEU).
Levon Ter-Petrosyan announced, “The movement does not set a task of geopolitical orientations to him, and during the upcoming mass events, he is not going to talk on this topic. In fact, there is not such a task in Armenia’s political agenda, because, as I have mentioned in one of my speeches, Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Union is an irreversible reality (1.03.2014). And, with this regard, the convulsion of two-three dozen individuals is already turning to ridicule, because two or three dozen people, in addition to stirring up people’s minds, under no circumstances are able to dictate a political agenda.”
Mr. Sakunts recalling the fact that today, the agreement of Armenia’s accession to the EaEU is signed, said, “Actually, the matter is not about geopolitics, but the value orientations. I understood that this movement with its own value system is pro-Serzh, Eurasian, in other words, it is nothing in the sense of suggesting something new.” Artur Sakunts also mentioned that there are two aspects of orientations: on the one hand – democracy, respect for human rights and dignity, on the other hand – value system of dictatorship of Putin’s Russia. According to Artur Sakunts, “Levon Ter-Petrosyan made a choice to the value system of Putin’s Russia.”
Later, Mr. Sakunts mentioned, “The core reason of problems of people gathered there is not Serzh in person or the pro-Serzh government, but the anti-democratic anti-constitutional nature of pro-Serzh government. The values-oriented nature of pro-Serzh government is aimed against the human rights and dignity. The approaches voiced on the platform had nothing to do with expectations of the people. This is called a manipulation for the sake of ambitions of own government. Of course, the manipulation will be revealed very soon. The wording about twenty or thirty people stirring up the minds of people is aimed at keeping this manipulation immune.”

Artur Sakunts opines that Levon Ter-Petrosyan should have had the respect for democracy, human rights, justice, and sovereign state, because these provisions are enshrined in the Constitution of Armenia, which has clearly oriented the direction of Armenia. According to Mr. Sakunts, “this orientation, i.e. the democracy, exists in the Western civilization rather than in Putin’s Russia.” Then, human rights activist added, “Moreover, on October 10, the person holding the title of the founder and the first President of Armenia does not give any response to the move by Serzh Sargsyan aimed at elimination of Armenia’s independence.
Essentially, Levon Ter-Petrosyan refused also this title. Aram Manukyan who has read the Declaration of Independence did not refer to the event happened today. In other words, people who were in the sources of the movement for Independence, and had come to power in the result of Independence, today, for coming to power, they refused the Independence of the country. In fact, there is no difference between today’s declared movement and serzhizm, neither values, nor with regard to other content. While, this an approach is just a contempt to thousands of people gathered in the Liberty Square and their expectations. Artur Sakunts announced, “we will continue to stirring up until it becomes clean” and wrapped up, “Levon Ter-Petrosyan showed that his intention is to come to power and replace Serge. In fact, he, the whole movement and serzhizm, has the same content and the same value system.”
