Against craziness

October 21,2014 14:27

This is what Leo writes about craziness, “Fragmented people were going from north and east to face them (warlike savage tribes – A.A.), mostly young men, often not only unarmed, but without a piece of bread in their bag. Who were they? The readers of “The Fool”, those who every day solemnly chant and sing “my hands tied, my feet chained, Europe would say, why didn’t you stand up for. The novel and the poem were driving people crazy scattering them to the mountains and valleys.”

When I say that we, the people living in the Armenian state, should give up the prejudices and stereotypes, I mean also the propaganda of “madness”. “When there is no solution and no way out / The crazy people find solution / This is how it came about / Started our great battle of Sardarapat.” This poem is written by Paruyr Sevak based on the myth that allegedly a group of crazy people with spades and garden forks went against the Turkish regular army and won.

Indeed, our soldiers were heroically fighting in Sardarapat, but fighting with the Turks was not insanity, but the results of a certain political and military calculation, which was done by statesmanship-mindset people. Otherwise, the result would have been the one that was during its preceding Fedayeen fights. The same for the Karabakh war. We won not due to the craziness, but just the opposite, because we did not do crazy things.

Now, when they try me to believe that the problems of our country can be solved through craziness, I’m thinking similarly. I share all emotional assessments about the case of Shant Harutyunyan and his friends. But these assessments do not contains the answer to this questions of whether they had violated the public law. This question has two answers: a /Yes, b / No. Listing the “heroic deeds” by the officials and their relatives is not the answer to this question.

There are no opponents in the internal life, moreover, enemies against whom you should fight. The only “enemy” is our attitude toward the state, which we have formed in us, of course, by the 24 years of the “skilled leadership”. As a result, we have the situation, which was repeatedly described.

…Austrian composer Anton Bruckner was an extremely modest man, and he was embarrassed to name one of his first symphonies, which, in fact, was written at age 45, “Number 1”. This work is recorded and performed under “Zero” («Die Nulte») name. Well, we, as a state, to say the truth, have not achieved particularly impressive successes. (The war for the given case is excluded, it is purely about the state institutions). Our “opuses” are “zero sum” so far. Maybe, it should be so in the first 45 years?
