Economist Ashot Yeghiazaryan believes that the World Bank published “Doing Business 2015” report, does not reflect the true problems in the economy. According to him, it is very possible for our country to improve its position every year by “Doing Business” but to have problems over the years. The economist, responding to the recently published report, according to which our country has improved its position of doing business by 1.3 points, said, “The scores of «Doing Business», of course, indicate the favorability of the regime in doing business in given country, it also indicate how the country is more liberal for doing business with favorable conditions, for both domestic enterprises and foreign companies, and also these are orienting scores for the encouragement and involvement of investments, nevertheless, such scores can show not so adequate picture of the situation in the economy and the prospects.”
According to the report, Georgia has the highest rating on doing business in our region, which ranked the 15th among 189 economies. This year, Azerbaijan also ranked in the top ten for implementation of reforms. Starting a business in Armenia has been facilitated die to improvement of procedures following the registration. In 2015, our country moved to the 45th ranking position from the 49th in 2014. Ashot Yeghiazaryan said, no matter how Armenia shows good scores among post-Soviet countries, anyway, it does not mean that Armenia does not have economic problems. According to him, in the background of overall economic regression, even Russia has improved its position by «Doing Business». “In other words, in some place, it is associated with the improvement of administrative procedures.”
