The presentation of a new film “Shadows in Paradise” was held in the “Moscow” cinema. The film producer, director and the staring actor is Gor Vardanyan. There is no lack of negative characters in Gor Vardanyan’s films. Such characters as in new so as in the previous films are quite successful and convincingly played by two young people, however, do not have artistic education. How did they do it? “Aravot” talked to them prior to the presentation of the film.
Sos Karapetyan. Docando karate world champion. “At the moment, I am the Head of Docando Karate Federation staff. At the same time, I am coaching about 500 children in Armenia. In other words, so many families entrusted their children to me. I was shot in Gor Vardanyan’s four films. I embodied only negative characters. Being an athlete, I have met a lot of bad people here and abroad. It helps me to embody negative characters. I want them to see and recognize themselves and feel ashamed. Specifically, in the film “Revenger”, my character is an ignorant man, managing violent and brutally. He and the people like him do not know Hovhannes Tumanyan and in a mockery way are saying that Tumanyan is a gynecologist, an architect. Unfortunately, such people actually hold positions and are managers. I, we, wanted to say that it’s enough, the end of brutality has come. In the new film, I embody the character of the Armenian underground thief Vlad, who lives in America for many years and tries to feel himself good, of course, in the bad way.”
Hovik Tadevosyan. three-time champion of Docando karate world, champion of Europe and CIS countries. “I am Gor Vardanyan’s pupil since 1998. I graduated from Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture. In 2007, I moved to the US and being here, I am coaching children mostly from the Armenian community. I embody negative people’s character in Gor Vardanyan films. It is very hard. Imagine that I do not sleep at nights. It is hard to admit that such people exist in reality. A kind of contradiction was created. When training children, you are trying to show the true way of life to them, whereas in the film, you do quite the opposite. And you know what’s interesting? The majority of the Armenian grandfathers and grandmothers in the US did not like me because of my character in the “Revenger” film, they did not want their grandchildren to communicate with me. Therefore, my friends, people who know me, were organizing and bringing them to my trainings to show that I am not the one in reality. However, the “Revenger” is a message that a poor man may have wealth, but his life is too short. I also embody a bad man in “Shadows in Paradise” film. The character is in the drug business with all of its forms. I do not want to go to the details, you’ll see yourself.”
