The first World Cup Championship of Performing Arts will be hosted in Yerevan
In 2000, Armenia first time participated in the Annual World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood. The first Armenian participant, model Artak Baghdasaryan, won all prizes in this championship: 2 gold, 12 silver and 1 bronze, opening a way for Armenian colleagues creating in other areas. Recently, we have also established an Annual World Championship of Performing Arts. The president of this World Association is Arman Ghukasyan, a person whom we known very well, once the double Champion of Europe in folk dances and multiple winner of international competitions in modern and contemporary dances. Prior to establishment of this World Association, one year ago he was the author and the MC of the international festivals Caucasian Association. Thanks to the latter, first time in Armenia, this summer, in support of the Ministry of Culture, the Caucasian Championship of Performing Arts Festival was held in participation of artists from 18 nations. Yerevan hosted more than 600 participants and 12 members of jury. Within short period of time, thanks to the Caucasian Championship, the Armenian vocalists won 8 top prizes in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Russia and elsewhere.
Referring to the first World Cup Championship of Performing Arts, which will be held on November 20-23 in Yerevan at the “Arno Babajanyan” music hall and at the National Center of Chamber Music, in the interview with “Aravot”, Arman Ghukasyan said that representatives of 10 nations from Italy, Russia, Moldova, Bulgaria Iran and other countries will participate, as well as the artists of national minorities creating in Armenia: Assyrians, Jews, Greeks, Georgians and Yezidis. “The participants, 650 artists, will compete in the following nominations: classical and folk music, pop-jazz vocals and 12 directions of dancing, including Armenian national and folk, modern, jazz, Latino-American and hip-hop. To participate in the works of the Committee, we have invited celebrities: the Chair of Yerevan State Conservatory Vocal, Professor Susanna Martirosyan, Head of “Gold Stars” Dance Studio Rudik Ghukasyan, Brazilian composer Marcos Vinicius, choreographer and organizer of the Annual international festivals in Ukraine Svetlana Kuzmenko, Georgian musicologist Svetlana Nanchevadze and others,” informed Mr. Ghukasyan. He added that this newly opened Association has branches in 20 countries: Russia, Georgia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, China, Greece and elsewhere. “Starting from the next year, local branches will hold their local competitions, and their winners will participate in the 2nd Championship already in Armenia. We also have other ideas, for example, to hold international competitions again starting from the next year, Cup competitions of European, Asian and the Baltic countries,” said our interlocutor. To our interest of whether prior to establishing the local World Association of Performing Arts, he had communicated with the analogue organization held in the U.S. since the end of the last century, especially when we have a fellow countryman in the American competition represented by the photo-model Artak Baghdasaryan. “We have already obtain a future collaboration agreement with Artak, in the future, we will also supplement with photo-models, recitation, artists and other nominations. In the coming future, we will cooperation with other leadership of the Championship held in America. In general, I am well aware of the events in the overseas show-business, I myself am an international referee in the performing arts for two years. With this mission, I visited Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, and Macedonia,” said Mr. Ghukasyan. To the question of whether there were sponsors found for this Championship, the artist smiled and briefly responded, “Does it matter? … Maybe the sponsors are reluctant to voice their names.”
