Speech heroes

November 21,2014 13:53

The “strength” of the speech does not mean lucidity of posture and effectiveness of actions. If you curse the government authorities or write the president’s name and last name in lowercase, it does not automatically mean that you want to make changes in the life of this country. It can mean just the opposite: you do not want anything to be changed, and your goal is much more “modest” that your gang would do the same exactly under the same system what the current leaders are doing. Andrei Sakharov was not using swear words to anyone, moreover, he did not want the Soviet Union to be destroyed, where he had done so such in defense of it. The academician wanted to reform the country (including, to the point, to create a confederation, which would be called Eurasian Union, it was suggested in the 70s), but his political and human rights activities, ultimately, contributed to the collapse of the country. So, it would remain unknown whose speech serves for what.

Exactly in the same way, if you make call of decisiveness to our soldiers or diplomats, it still does not mean that you are very concerned about the crash of our helicopter or the fate of our pilots. It is possible that the opposite is true, that you, at the least, are indifferent towards the helicopter and the problems of the militants, and just want to be a hero at the so-called “speech level.”

The matter that the crash of the helicopter should be a subject for serious consideration in our and the Artsakh armies, and the commanders who put our soldiers’ lives at stake, as well as the expensive equipment, should be severely punished, there is no doubt about it. But in this case, the point is that we, almost the whole “nation”, has become a military expert and a major specialist especially giving a counterblow to Azerbaijan. “Everyone feels himself a strategist when watching the battle from aside,” this is approximate translation of Shota Rustaveli’s famous lines.

And again I must say that if I call on to cut any Azerbaijani’s hand, leg or the ear, enter and destroy several Azerbaijani villages, and complain about why it is not done, it does not speak of my courage. Siting in Yerevan and thinking about “Rambo escape” is extremely easy and safe. But if there is an auditorium for such speeches, then they will definitely be continued.

Obviously, we must be ready for war. But it does not assume alarming or bellicose statements. This means that everyone should know what to do during the war. In this respect, people in Artsakh are more gathered, more persistent and purposeful. In Armenia, people are more attracted by minor problems. Therefore, we “yak” too much here.
