One of the criminals for planning and executing the Armenian Genocide, Djemal Pasha’s grandson of Hasan Cemal was I Yerevan, moreover, on the eve of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, in other words, just in the time when the latter’s visit was inappropriate and cause a noise and heated discussions. The arrival of the Turkish journalist and publicist Hasan Cemal and the meeting with him was not accepted clearly. He was presenting his book to us entitled “1915. Armenian Genocide”, with which, in fact, he recognizes the Armenian Genocide and apologizes, on the other hand, our guest names his grandfather’s murderers as “gang members”, while about Artsakh, he writes that in 1992-93, Armenian “occupied” the territory of Azerbaijan by 20 %.
As to why Hasan Cemal’s visit to Yerevan cause noise, or what was the meaning of seeing him in Armenia, why he went to the Yerevan State University to meet with the younger generation, if he refrained from talking about the true historical facts reasoning that “I’m not a historian…” or “I have not studied the history of Karabakh in-depth, and I cannot argue with historical facts,” in the result of which, the students began to protest shouting, “It’s a shame”, “Aravot” asked the opinion of the political analyst Sergey Shakaryan.
Sergey Shakaryants, talking about how Hasan Cemal’s visit was justified, said the following, “I do not understand the logic of the organizers of the event, nor the direction of the willingness. Let’s not forget whose grandson he is, he does not confess the sins of his ancestors, not apologizes practically, on the contrary, at the “Moscow” cinema he said that the gangs, i.e. Armenians, killed… But if he was well-disposed towards Armenia, he should have said that they were revengers and each one of them had the right to revenge. I do not blame the Turks, I have to blame the Armenians who for operating some grants and justifying, bring such Turks to Yerevan. I also blame the government officials who have neglected and at least do not comment on the event and do not say anything after so many events. I understand that now it is accepted to play a European tolerance, but whether to this extent… The Turk comes to Yerevan and dishonors our heroes. I am surprised that such people who ignore this consider them citizens of Armenia. I am sure that all of this has organizers”.
According to Sergey Shakaryants, Hasan Cemal is no different from his grandfather, and as to the question that some were surprised by the raised noise, the political scientist recommends them to re-survive the genocide, but “Let only their family members fall a victim, and when they feel the pain and sorrow on their own skin, then we will talk with these people.” To the observation of whether it is necessary to invite such a people to Armenia on the eve of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, Sergey Shakaryants said, “Of course not. Well, if such people come and apologize at the Armenian Genocide Memorial, rather than at the “Moscow” cinema hall or at the YSU, it would worth and it would be a move that the grandchildren of our executioner confess the genocide. With regard to this event, I am surprised not at the Turks rather than Armenians and understand as follows that they are not Armenians, but Turks, and it turns out that there are also pro-Turkish and Turkophile Armenians. They have no right to be called Armenians and they need to be deprived of their nationality.”
