Ashot Gazazyan, correspondent of “Deutsche Welle” (German Wave) in Armenia, attending the funeral procession from the Freedom Square to presidential residency, talked to Aravot.am about Russian soldiers Valerie Permyakov accused in murdering of Avetisyan family in Gyumri, “Of course, Russia and Moscow would no way like this incident. Especially since a few days ago, we have joined the EaEU. Now, an unexpected and very unpleasant situation arose for them, too.

Russian press, which was supposed to be the first to respond, was completely paralyzed on the first day. Only starting from the second day, they began to release information. As far as I know, there is no “activity” at the Embassy of Armenia to Russia. No one is coming to expressing its concern… It can somehow alleviate the pain of us, the Armenians.

Now, we are here, first, not so much for work. It is very important for us to make the voice of our brothers and sisters in Gyumri reach our local authorities. Indeed, the offender should take his punishment in Armenia, indeed, the Russian soldiers, as reported that they have caught the perpetrator, should have handed him over to Armenian authorities, law enforcement agencies rather than taking him to the Russian military base. It is clear that today the perpetrator is beyond the jurisdiction of Armenia. We are told that serious talks are underway about all of this, but to make people feel relaxed, this issue should be resolved unequivocally, both the investigation, all the expertise and the trial. Of course, together with Russian experts.”
