In Daniel Ioannisyan words, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ankara could have announced one thing that generally has no connection with reality
Kazakh Ambassador to Turkey Zhanseit Tumebayev has announced that Turkey’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union is welcomed. In this regard, Aravot.am talked to Project Coordinator for “Union of Informed Citizens” (UIC) NGO Daniel Ioannisyan. He mentioned that Turkey does not need this membership. “Turkey has a growing economy, unlike the EaEU, whose economy is running inflation according to 2015 estimates. Turkey does not need it. Armenia’s economic growth, if it was projected at around 4 per cent in September, now, in 2015, the economic growth is projected at 0 per cent. Russia’s economic inflation is around 4.8 percent. Please find me a country that would be willing to enter into an alliance with economic inflation.”
Daniel Ioannisyan added that the Russian side lists a number of countries that allegedly would like to join the Eurasian Economic Union. They are Turkey, Israel, Vietnam, Pakistan and India. “When we call these countries’ foreign ministries, most of them were not even aware of it. The only country that more or less was aware of it and was saying that they do not want to join the EaEU but are willing to sign a free trade agreement with the EaEU, it was Vietnam. They said that they have nothing to do with the EaEU and have never wanted to join it.” According to him, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Ankara could have announced one thing, which generally has no connection with reality. “Turkey, indeed, will not join the EaEU. Georgia refusal to join the EaEU, now, this year, it would perhaps have 4.2 percent economic growth. Although the oil price is dropping and it strikes Azerbaijan more than Russia, nevertheless, 3% economic growth is projected in Azerbaijan, because the latter did not make an alliance with the sinking Union.”
