“Attending the Dardanelles celebration on April 24, of course, does not incur from our interests, as it is important for Armenia to celebrate the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide in Armenia”, – said the President of the Yerevan Press Club, Boris Navasardyan, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the statement of the Turkish Prime Minister’s Advisor Etienne Mahchupian’s statement whether attending the Dardanelles celebration incurs from Armenia’s interests. In his opinion, even if the celebration were planned for another day, it would be prong to attend it. “Obviously, it is the continuation of Turkey’s denial policy to mark the anniversary of the Gallipoli battle in new manners, hence, it is clear that it is unacceptable. Evidently, Armenia should display negatively.”
Boris Navasardyan thinks that the relationship between the countries should be based on dignity, but in this case, according to him, this fact is missing. “If any party does not show ethnic dignity, the relationship cannot have stable grounds. And since, in this case, the question of dignity is obviously available, Armenia cannot view it as an improvement in the relations between Armenia and Turkey.”
