“No illegality committed police officer is brought to responsibility”

February 06,2015 15:18

Argishti Kiviryan, recognized as a victim of illegal actions by the police during the protest in front of the Russian Embassy for the assassination case of Avetisyan family members in Gyumri on January 15, refused to give a testimony. “We were invited to a special investigative service saying that a criminal case is filed based on the statement issued by the NGOs published in “Aravot” newspaper.

The criminal case brought by Article 308, part 1, for illegal police actions. I refused to give a testimony reasoning that I do not believe that the investigative body is capable of conducting an objective investigation. I am sure that this case will have no future, they are just trying to create an illusion of justice, to convince the public that look, we have filed a case fairly and investigate it, but I’m sure that a few months later, the case will be dismissed and closed. In other words, no person found guilty, no illegality committed police officer will be brought to responsibility”, said Argishti Kiviryan to Aravot.am. He told us that he was detained by force. “By pushing-pulling and beating, he was made to get into the police car, that day I was detained twice: from in front of the embassy and the Liberty Square, both times in the same manner. At the Special Investigation Service, they gave me a reference to the forensic doctor, I refused to receive it, because I have mentioned that I do not believe both the investigative body and the forensic doctors. I have mentioned that I am going to waste my time.”
