During the day, we received two news. One is generally good news – after long negotiations in Minsk, 4 countries succeeded to reach an agreement on a cease-fire in eastern Ukraine. Let’s not screw up, the matter is only about possible ceasefire, speaking about a lasting peace is still too early. It is very likely that pro-Russian fighters will not only continue their assault these two days in the direction of Debaltsovo residential area to blockade the Ukrainian military troops, moreover, after a few days of rest, they will resume their activities, in short, they will not want to miss the military initiative. The ceasefire, therefore, is quite fragile.
President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at RPA Board session, on the contrary, states the end of the domestic political “ceasefire”. In the next few days, RPA and “non-governmental” politicians, journalists and users will say unpleasant things to each other; the political fight will escalate. Anyway, I personally always tend to see also the positive side. And it is not one but many. Firstly, the political field is cleared out, there is no more government and non-government, there is a government and an opposition, as it is accepted in all civilized countries. To the point, the opposition henceforth may possibly acquire the laurel of the sufferer and prosecuted, as it was common in post-Soviet countries.
Secondly, if the president’s speech was a call for a new political culture, then it was addressed not only to Gagik Tsarukyan and PAP, but to everyone. Accordingly, I will allow myself to generalize Serzh Sargsyan’s messages. 1/ no ignorant well-off should enter the politics, regardless of which political party “trench” he was sitting, 2/ no one should mix politics with charity, 3/ no parliamentarian, regardless of which faction he is, should not ignore his electorates and miss most of the NA sessions, 4/ no big entrepreneur should evade paying taxes, 5/ no big entrepreneur’s or government official’s body guard should beat someone and go unpunished.
These elements will not be implemented as of tomorrow, nor, perhaps, in 1 or 5 years. Because it has not started yesterday, nor 1 or 5 years ago. “Caramels” and “Fodders” first came to the Parliament in 1995. With their outlook. With their vocabulary. With their perceptions about the “truth” and beauty. My friends and I have noticed it 20 years ago. Today, these “political figures” make the majority in the parliament, being fully represented in the two parties.

I agree, this is really evil. But if a principle is announced, it should be applied to everyone, including your own people. In that case, yesterday’s event will also be possibly considered as positive.
