British “rollback”

February 25,2015 12:44

Britain’s former foreign minister, the Member of Parliament of the House of Commons Jack Straw, when his parliamentary term ends in May, most likely, will work at the “Senator International” huge furniture company as a consultant. Well, it is clear that the man does not want to become a young pensioner thinking about how is going to pay for electricity and gas after quitting with the politics. But not everything is so simple. Recently, the “Senator” had received a state order of 75 million pounds, and according to the British press, this parliamentarian, as well as the Head and Minister of the Cabinet Office Francis Mode have played a decisive role in getting this order.

This sounds familiar, doesn’t it? If a tender is announced in any region of Armenia, then there is a high probability that the governor’s relative will win it. Or, let’s recall that the former President of Germany Gerhard Schröder has become the President of the Russian “Gazprom” company, and the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is working at the company “Sistema” in the same country.

Hereby, Jack Straw-related disclosures are not over. British “Fourth Channel” TV company and “Telegraph” newspaper reporters have telephoned a number of parliamentarians and introducing themselves on behalf of a non-existent Chinese company have asked for a lobby assistance for an appropriate fee. Jack Straw and another former Foreign Minister who is also a Conservative MP, Sir Malcolm Rifkind, responded positive to this offer, moreover, Straw had mentioned a number – 5 thousand pounds per day.

According to British laws, the MPs are not disallowed to be engaged in business with only one exception that this business should be accredited and in no way interferes with the legislative work. (To the point, when I offered doing the same in Armenia, but my idea seemed strange to many people, however, it seems to me that this is a more effective way rather than to pretend to be innocent and spotless). In Britain, however, it is banned to use your political influence for advancing the interests of entrepreneurs and receive money for it.

Conservative and Labor Parties have frozen the work of these parliamentarians in the factions until the completion of the investigation. The British government system has a distinct operating mechanisms that can counteract the human weaknesses encountered everywhere. In our country, there are no such mechanisms. In this regard, it is worth once again to address the issue of governance system not from the viewpoint of “reproduction or non-reproduction (in case of any system, RPA “will be reproduced”), but with consideration of the efficiency. Imagine that the work of the prime minister and the government depends on 131 Shmais.
