Chairman of the Union of Composers of Armenia Aram Satyan is not included in the Genocide Centennial Events Committee. In the interview with Aravot.am, he said that he had made a number of suggestions to the Minister for Culture of Armenia, Ara Abrahamyan’s fund and all the structures that are associated with the genocide centennial, but he has received no response. “I think that it was necessary to announce a tender in the music industry for new works.

The Union of Composers is fulfilling its plan, but neither the Chairman nor the members of the Union are included in the Commission staff. There was no discussion held with the Union of Composers. We wanted to do a festival where the works that were written specifically for this theme will be played: quartets, symphonic works … In short, quite a lot of work has been done, we have collect the works of the Armenian composers, we are aware of what is going on in Russia and the United States. We are doing a festival in France, the United States and in all the countries where there is the Forget-Me-Not emblem, but it is our initiative, nothing is told to us,” said the composer.
