Turkologist Andranik Ispiryan is sure that the resolution dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide and passed by the European People’s Party (EPP) cannot have any impact on Turkey’s pertaining to Armenian Genocide recognition. “Judging from Turkey’s foreign policy aimed at combating genocide recognition and its subsequent actions, nothing would force Turkey this year to make concessions in the initiatives for recognition of the genocide.
At this point, Turkey shows that it has taken the line of fairly sharp denial and refuting. In other words, thinking that the EPP resolution can change something pertaining to Turkey’s adopted policy is not likely. But it is important for us to the fact that a quite well-known European party makes a decision, it’s another opportunity for using the term genocide and its recognition at the international instances,” said the Torkologist.
