Democracy is not a chaos

March 16,2015 21:03

Recently, I wrote about our political parties, in the majority of which, the members are concentrated around one person, his money or at least his authority. The party members are looking at the mouth of the leader, and applaud his all, even contradictory ideas. Without this leader, the party if not collapses, then experiences very serious difficulties.

But there is also the opposite extreme, when the party leaders publicly announce diametrically opposite opinions. We are talking specifically about the “Heritage”. I do not know, I have never been a party member, but I suppose that such an important issue like attending or not attending the meetings with the President regarding Constitutional amendments, firstly, it was to be discussed at the board meeting, where various opinions should be voiced, a voting was to be held and only based on it, the “Heritage” party representatives were to go or not to go to Baghramyan – 26. If the issue has been discussed at the board meeting, then Zaruhi Postanjyan’s complaints are unsubstantiated. If not, then Armen Martirosyan and Ruben Hakobyan acted arbitrarily.

Let’s put the question more broadly. Is it possible to be a democrat, liberal and, on the other hand, disciplined? It seems to me, yes, and it is not only possible, but also necessary. In this very system everyone need to clearly know its rights and fulfill its obligations. Otherwise, those who claim that democracy leads to chaos will become right. And I would not like them to be right.
