Prior to launching of the fourth plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, the delegation members visited the Genocide Memorial and right there, by the majority of votes, they passed the Resolution on the centennial of the Armenian Genocide. This was announced today by co-chairperson of the Parliamentary Assembly Heidi Hautala, at the end of the Assembly, during the press conference with the journalists. At the press conferences, co-chairpersons of Parliamentary Assembly Heidi Hautala and Borys Tarasyuk presented the resolutions passed by the Assembly at the session of the past three days in Yerevan. They are two of them: the Resolution on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the Resolution on “Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and the peaceful settlement”. Borys Tarasyuk, who is also a member of the Ukrainian delegation, expressed gratitude to the Euronest. “The whole world knows what military operations are underway in Ukraine by a country that brought a war to our country. Euronest adopted the resolution that urges Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine and to cease hostilities.”
Co-Chairperson Victor Dolidze informed that the Parliamentary Assembly’s next – the fifth plenary session will be hosted not at the European Parliament, but the Ukrainian capital of Kiev in 2017. Speaking of the Eastern Partnership program countries and EU relations, the co-chairpersons highlighted the upcoming EU summit in Riga in mid-May. The co-chairpersons of the Assembly described the works of the Euronest Yerevan session as constructive.
