Europe and We. Dispair energy

April 06,2015 18:11

This type of energy can be used in Russia but not in Armenia

Why do people fall into despair and disappointment? It is very simple because the reality does not match their expectations. For instance, if I have prepared a light spring clothing for tomorrow and it snows the next morning, I am disappointed. Who is to blame? The weather? Hardly. Rather my unrealistic expectations. I need to be ready for both favorable and unfavorable weather conditions. Or, suppose before the marriage, the girl hopes that her husband would “gild” her. But after the marriage, her husband turned to be a loafer. What is the disappointment caused by: the husband’s peculiarities or the girl’s wrong predictions?

And now, suppose I say to an “average arithmetic” Soviet man of the second half of the 1980s that in the result of free elections, democracy and market economy, he would live better. How has he realized this promise? Most likely, as follows: I will keep working with half done, sit idle at the workplace and receive 120 rubles or steal spare parts from the factory, but my life will be the kind that is shown in the movies about the West: lavish supermarket, luxury villas, high-grade vehicles, and so on. Over these 25 years, the real life became a fight for survival for many people. Disappointment? Despair? Yes. Is this the fault of market relations, or the fact that they were unable to approve them because we did not and do not know how to work under these conditions? How to get out of desperation, which largely takes possession in the post-Soviet countries? Putin suggests one of the ways out, and given our “strategic” relationships, perhaps, something like this is imposed on us.

To exercise its functions good or bad, the state should use the energy of the society. The energy may generate from both positive and negative emotions. In this case, Putin is using the above-described energy of despair, by presenting the following formula, “We tried to live with European standards and market relations. Did you see what happened? No, we’re going to follow our own spiritual path – poor but proud, slowly-slowly collecting our lands. See, we already collected the Crimea and Novorossiya, we established a Eurasian Union, and this is not the end. Satanic forces are trying to prevent us, but we are strong with our God-given mission.” This means substituting the economy, the solution of people’s social problems with ideological mottos and advocacy. While, building something on a negative energy eventually will lead to nothing good.

Former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, who is much talked about in recent times, was also guided by the idea of his country’s own political and economic path, which was built on ethnic and religious notions, but it never occurred to his mind to be guided by senseless tactics of opposing the West when building the country’s economy. He wrote, “How many economies rule the world, while America takes the leading position in the industry of technology and innovation, neither the European Union nor Japan nor China will be able to push America out of its leadership positions.” So, the “own way” does not enter into conflict with the realistic estimation of the modern world. Otherwise, the disappointment of market relations will be substituted by despair caused by “own way”. Russian leadership is so far able to use the energy of despair, but Armenian government does not have this resource. In other words, the despair is there, but it does not produce energy supplies. They should be sought in other, positive “places”, our people’s loyalty to family values that can serve as a basis for small business, the pretty high level of education and the susceptibility of the youth to technical knowledge, based on which we can develop high technologies. But this will come next.
