The world is based on a “win and lose” model

April 10,2015 16:38

But it can develop only in the case of using the “win and win” model

The American experts, still a few decades ago, distinguished three basic types of models in all kinds of relationships – interpersonal, corporate, domestic political and international, “lose-lose”, “win-lose” and “win-win”. The first one is for non compos mentis. For example, the couple split up and the court decides that the husband should sell his car and give the money to his ex-wife. The husband dissatisfied with the decision sells his car worth of a 100 thousand dollar for 5 dollars and gives it to his ex-wife. The one is left without a car, the second one – without money, they both lose.

The relationships in the world, as a rule, are based on a “win-lose” model. For example, I “lose” every day, I would even say “crashed” by many readers, who show what wrong and stupid things I am writing, thus, thinking that they are giving serious psychological blows to me. Or, someone sells a product on the market worth of 100 AMD for 1000 AMD, and thus “wins” the naive client. Or, the husband makes his wife to go to a place where the latter does not want to go, so to speak, he “breaks her resistance” and thereby “celebrates a win.” And this is true not only in personal relationships, but on a worldwide scale. Now, it is clear why the world is so imperfect, isn’t it?

Undoubtedly, we face the same in the domestic political life. The opposition and the government in Armenia are seeking to destroy each other, in other words, winning over one another. To the point, the first one says that it would be the “people’s” win that they want to “return the power to the people” and so on, but when any politician utters the word “people”, you can be sure that he pretends. While, the government says that it has no intention to destroy the opposition, it is “interested in having a strong and influential opposition,” but it was a lie too, and the government moves in the last 24 years come to prove just the opposite. The solution is not in concessions, as it might seem at the first glance, but finding such joint objectives goals where both will win. Azerbaijanis want to “win” us, in other words, destroy us physically or displace the Armenians living in Artsakh, and our win will probably be the fact that they step back from their intention.

Our dispute of this level may last for decades. Do our people have an agenda, which implemented jointly, will equally win? If yes, then Artsakh problem will ever be solved. The best example of the “win-win” model was the agreement reached between the “six” world powers and Iran last week in Switzerland. In the case of lifting the sanctions, Iran’s economy that has a great potential will begin to breathe freely, and both Iran and its neighbors (also, we, should we work correctly) will benefit from it. Russia also has a very strong political and economic ties with Iran and will be able to carry out a number of projects, including the building of nuclear power plants. The oil price, it is true, will continue to fall, but our strategic partners, sooner or later, will have to realize that it is impossible to build the entire economy on sale of oil and gas. The West will be relieved of its fears associated with Iran’s nuclear program and in the case of a favorable scenario, in the near historic future, it may have good economic partners. Whatever you want to say, a higher spiritual and intellectual level is required for using the “win-win” model.
