The declaration of the National press club (Armenia)

It is our generation’s fate to commemorate the most tragic page in the history of Armenian people, the centenary of Armenian Genocide. A century ago, in Ottoman Empire an evil plan of diminishing of Armenian nation and occupying its homeland was worked out and put into action, which took the lives of 1.5 million Armenians.

Today, linked with invisible spiritual chain, with the memory in their hearts the daughters and sons of the world-wide spread Armenian people commemorate the centenary. Each Armenian listens, feels and carries the pain, the voice of which is listen from remote Australia, Californian mountains, sunburned Africa, Canadian forests, European cities, Slavonic flatlands. Armenian’s voice is not heard only from his cradle land-Van, Karin, from slopes of Nemrut and Sipan mountains, from the fields of Berkry and Mush.

National Press Club joins all the compatriots and foreigners commemorating the centenary in various corners of the world states:

  • Armenian genocide is a crime committed against the humanity. It is a violated the right of a human beings and nations to live on their own land. The adoption and condemnation of the genocide by the international community is the re-statement of respect and priority of human and nations’ rights,
  • The first condition of genocide prevention is the recognition and condemnation of genocides committed previously,
  • The call for non-tolerance, hatred, and hostility create a fertile soil and contented environment for committing Genocides,
  • Even in 21st century genocides remain a serious threat for mankind, a brutal way to solve the problems,
  • Meeting its own history, the adoption and condemnation of Armenian Genocide by Turkey is guarantee for having a peaceful region.

The National Press Club calls:

  • The civil society and Mass media of Turkey, of not being silent, to tell what has happened 100 years ago and demand the Turkish authorities to adopt and condemn the Armenian Genocide committed by Ottoman Empire. It is the only way to toss the heavy burden and free the generations from it.

The National Press Club declares:

  • The alive and living memorial for 1.5 million will be the free, independent, democratic freedom, respecting the human rights, Armenia relying on its own strength and security, creation of an environment of tying a citizen to the own land.

Commemorating:

the memory of 1.5 million victims, let us the generation of Hayk and Aram, Artashes and Tigran the Great, Mashtots and  Narekatsi,  to take a an oath  before them to create free, independent, strong, progressive statehood, under the view of  Old Ararat, our hearts left behind Ararat, and looking to the future.
