May 14,2015 18:30

According to Aghasi Yenokyan, Armenia has become a member of the EaEU for the security of the regime

“The doors continue to be open for cooperation with Europe,” announced the Senior Expert for the Center of Regional Studies, David Shahnazaryan, during the round table discussion of experts organized by the Armenian Institute for International and Security Affairs on May 13. The subject of the round table discussion was ” Armenia, 4 Months inEurasian Union: In a Recession and In Anticipation of Collapse?”

He expressed hope that Armenia will have to cooperate with Europe as the Russian market for objective reasons dispels Armenian businesses. “It is very clear that firstly, they will ask for rubles, it will not happen, secondly, there is a gap of purchasing power, thirdly, they know very well that EU member countries, even the United States, will try entering this market through various post-Soviet countries, firstly through Belarus.”

Political analyst Aghasi Yenokyan spoke about the argument that Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union for security reasons. “I want to get an answer: what security? If we are talking about Karabakh, then let them do so that Russia would not sell weapons to Azerbaijan. My understanding is that it is not about Armenia’s security, but the security of the regime. Because it was then that this opposition was established in Armenia by the order of Putin and led by Gagik Tsarukyan, who, in fact, indicated, “You know what, Serge Sargsyan? If not you then they are.”
